About Kevin Garrett
Growing up in rural South Georgia, Kevin Garrett dreamed of seeing the world, but had rarely been much beyond Georgia, Alabama and the panhandle of Florida. Today his skills with his camera have literally taken him all over the world – from Anguilla (a tiny desert island in the Caribbean) to Zambia (a country in southern Africa). His fine art photography hangs in corporate, resort and hotel collections in the U.S., Caribbean and Europe.
For two years running, Kevin was selected to photograph the International Children’s Day campaign for Ronald McDonald House Charities. He has donated his time to take portraits for Heart Gallery Southeast of teens and youngsters in foster care who were hoping to find families who would adopt them – which some of his subjects did.
He’s also produced an award-winning ad for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. His images of a young woman who had escaped a brutal regime in Burundi and wound up in Atlanta where she was adopted accompanied a story in Atlanta Magazine that won an Ellie Award. One of his favorite shots was for the same magazine: a decorated soldier who suffered severe injuries in Iraq, but who often spends his time visiting the wounded in Veteran Administration hospitals.

His images in My Orange Duffel Bag (MODB) reflect his travels, love for people and his eye for beauty – from photographs of rare wildflowers that bloom fleetingly in the Namaqualand region of South Africa to an unusual perspective of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
